The My FAMLI+ Employer Portal is Now Available and Colorado Businesses Must Register
By Jesse A. Cherkoss, Associate
Beginning January 1, 2023, employers may begin collecting their employees’ share of the Family and Medical Insurance Leave Act (“FAMLI”)[1] premiums through payroll deductions. As a reminder, while premiums under FAMLI are ultimately the employer’s responsibility, employers may satisfy up to half of their premium obligations (or 0.45% of employee wages) through employee payroll contributions. Employers are responsible for submitting all premiums and wage reports to the FAMLI Division quarterly. The portal will be used by Colorado businesses to manage their FAMLI accounts, including: reporting wage data, sending premium payments, applying for exemptions, and otherwise complying with their FAMLI-related obligations moving forward into 2023 and beyond.
As a reminder, all Colorado employers must register with My FAMLI+ Employer. Employers may go to famli.colorado.gov, which will direct employers to the My FAMLI+ Employer Welcome Page.
Employers Registering their Businesses will Need at a Minimum:
1) Business address, phone number, and email address;
2) Legal business name;
3) Number of employees nationwide;
4) Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN).
Important Dates and Deadlines:
1) December 19, 2022: Live registration process webinar 11-11:30am, here;
2) January 1, 2023: Employers must begin to report employee wages on a quarterly basis;
